Conditions of Interruptions 2026

A dark path, a narrow opening, an almost serene white surface: In *Conditions of Interruptions*, what matters is how much an intervention changes things. The five mixed-media works from 2026 are titled Dominance, Obstruction, Compression, Absence, and Residue. They belong together, yet each places different emphases.

The white is not a neutral surface here. It forms edges, folds, and elevations. Light and shadow bring these differences to the fore. In between, dark spots, ochre-brown traces, and isolated red remnants remain visible. Some elements push forward, while others recede almost entirely.

In *Dominance*, a dark vertical band meets a light horizontal zone. *Obstruction* is denser and more fragmented. *Compression* focuses the viewer’s gaze on the narrow dark opening between light masses. *Absence*, by contrast, draws attention to a few deviations. In *Residue*, traces remain particularly visible at the edges.

I’m interested in what these differences evoke when viewing the works. The understated piece, in particular, alters the way we perceive the denser images beside it. The titles suggest a direction but do not dictate a finished story. You don’t have to translate or decipher them to discover something in the works.

“A small interruption can transform the entire surface.”
